Hello, and welcome to Joe Shows How! Lately I’ve gotten into the habit of wearing lightweight latex gloves when applying paint, glue, caulk, grease, wood stain and other messy materials. I also wear them when digging in the garden. It’s an easy way to protect my hands and make cleanup a whole lot easier.
Now, latex gloves are admittedly not very durable and most DIYers discard them after a single use. However, in this week’s video, I show how to extend the life of used rubber gloves.
First, carefully inspect the gloves after you use them. What you’ll find is that, while much of each glove might be stained or dirty, a few of the fingers typically emerge perfectly clean. Use scissors to snip off those latex-rubber fingers, and then next time you need to spread glue or caulk, slip a severed rubber finger onto your fingertip. It’ll protect both your finger and fingernail.
And be sure to stay tuned to the end of the video for a Bonus Tip on how baby powder can make it much easier to slip latex gloves on and off. Thanks for watching!
